Archives Ref: IA 76 13 474

New Zealand troops on the front line of the Somme near La Signy Farm, France in April 1918. The division had moved been moved from reserve positions into the Somme sector to plug gaps in the Front line created by the major German offensive launched in March, 1918. It is possible that the soldiers are from the 4th Battalion, New Zealand Rifle Brigade who had just relieved the 2nd Battalion, Wellington Regiment the day before.
